Instruments - Renting VS Purchasing
It's a tough decision. Your child wants to start a new instrument but you're not sure if they are going to stick with it. You are investing in the instructional time for the lessons but do you want to make another big monetary commitment by purchasing the instrument?
A great solution is to rent the instrument first. For instance, keyboards are a great rental solution to beginning piano lessons. Most professional companies will allow for a rent-to-own plan where you can purchase out your rental if your budding musician takes off!
Happy practicing!

More of Your Questions Being Answered
"Should I be concerned about getting an older teacher for my son to start lessons with? Does that suggest they have more experience?"
Anna, Orlando, FL
Thanks for the question Anna! Age has little to nothing to do with knowledge and appropriate teaching experience. If you want to make sure you are getting a proper educator make sure you are using a music company that only hires professionals with a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Someone could have been "teaching" for many years but without the proper background may not have the pedagogy to help children and adults start out with the correct support to allow them to thrive in the future.
Keep asking questions!
